| Applying Rub Ons |
|
Rub Ons have really come a long way in the past few years. The biggest difference? Today’s rub ons are more elaborate and have COLOR! Applying rub ons are easy but require some basic care. First, remember to always have a hard flat surface under your page. If you are working in a strap hinge album or Spiral album or directly in any book, take the page out. If you can’t take the page out, slip a hard surface like some heavy chipboard underneath your page. Working on a just the page out of the book works best. Second, cut the rub on out as a separate piece. The rub ons are somewhat delicate. You run the risk of accidentally applying the other rub ons onto the page if you try to lay down the entire sheet. Plus, you will have better control on where to position the rub on. Finally, to apply, remove the protective under backing to reveal the tacky side. The tacky side should be down on the paper (if there are words, you should be able to read them). While holding the rub on with one hand, take the enclosed popsicle stick and gently start rubbing across the top surface, working your way across the entire rub on. You want to apply some pressure without letting the rub on shift. With some brands, you will actually see the rub on “stick” to the paper as you work. However, not all brands do this. When you are done rubbing, slowly start to peel the top layer off. If you see some of the rub on is still stuck to the top sheet and not your page, lay it gently back down taking care not to shift it, and apply more pressure with the popsicle stick. When you can peel the top layer off – you’re done and you have a beautiful page! Note: It’s worth saving that popsicle stick because some brands of rub ons do not supply a stick with their product.
